As #prayforNice trends on the internet, Bollywood actors, fashion designers and city celebrities have expressed their shock and sorrow over the terrorist attack in Nice, France in the early hours of Friday. “Heartbreaking!! How many more times will we witness horrific attacks against humanity? Cannot express the anger #NiceAttack,” tweeted actor Anushka Sharma. She was joined by actors Akshay Kumar and Riteish Deshmukh. “When will this madness end. #NiceAttack #Prayers,” Deshmukh wrote.

Here in the Capital, a large number of Delhiites were present at the French Embassy in the Capital on Thursday evening, on the occasion of Bastille Day. As news of the attack, that left 84 people dead, broke on Friday morning, many of them expressed shock. “We were there for Bastille Day at the French ambassador’s residence. This news is heart breaking,” says designer Ritu Kumar. The French Ambassador to India, Alexandre Ziegler added, “Last night, right here at the Residence of France, we were celebrating with joy the strong and historical friendship between India and France. This morning, in such a moment of distress for my country, this friendship is all the more appreciated and cherished.” Dancer Shovana Narayan, who was also present at the event, says, “This bloodshed is not going to get us anywhere. I hope sanity prevails.”

Meanwhile, designers from the Capital who often show their work in France, like Ritu Beri, Suneet Varma and Rahul Mishra are shocked. “Paris is fashion capital of the world, its like our second home. In fact I am scheduled to present at the Paris Fashion Week this October. These acts put a strain on the relationship that countries and the fashion fraternities build with each other,” says Mishra. “France is like second home to me. The act of terror is really sad and pathetic. My heart goes out to the families affected,” adds Beri.

How many more times will we witness horrific attacks? Cannot express the anger #NiceAttackS. ANUSHKA SHARMA, ACTOR It is a horrifying attack. My heart goes out to all the victims and the families of bereaved SUNEET VARMA, DESIGNER
