What a busy year, just what I wanted!
Phew! It’s been a busy, busy year for me. It felt like everything happened in just one deep breath. It’s hard to recall how all these days and months of 2016 went by. But I’m not complaining because this is exactly how I wanted it to be. A lot of good things happened… memories that I’ll continue to cherish... Like my TV show, Naagin... The response and fan-following it garnered was overwhelming. I also had some performances in certain shows, and how I danced and enjoyed myself.
But the mother of all performances for me this year has to be the one on the IIFA (International Indian Film Academy) Awards stage. I don’t think any other TV actor has got that chance. I’m proud of having been there, done that. It’s really cool, you know, that sense of achievement!
Talking of achievements, it’s that time of the year when many look back on what all they achieved in the year, and set goals for the one to follow. Did I set targets? Nope. And I’m glad to have not done that in 2016. That’s because every time I set a goal for myself, I end up with it not being fulfilled. So I work hard towards whatever I want in life, I give it my 100%. Beyond that, I believe in letting life and God surprise me.
TV star Mouni Roy pens a column on how 2016 fared for her
Not many people know this about me but I’m a firm believer of ‘pre destiny’ and ‘free will’. You know, the idea behind this theory is that you tie a cow to a pillar and say that she can go wherever she wants, but the fact remains that the cow can only go till the point the length of the rope lets her. So, I don’t tie myself down with goals at any point. Another highpoint of 2016 is the love I’ve received from street kids. I’ll always be thankful to (producer) Ekta (Kapoor) ma’am for letting me do a show like Naagin because that’s what broadened my reach. Some of these children would visit me on the sets. It was amazing… their smiles, their stories and the cheer they spread. It’s always lovely to connect with fans. They know how much I value them, and how they want to know me in and out. They’re curious about what goes on in my personal life too, but through this column, I want to let them know that I refrain from revealing much about it because I’m not someone who enjoys talking about this aspect of my life. I want them to understand and respect that. I know they will. All in all, 2016 has been a great year. I’m glad for all the opportunities I got, and am hopeful of bigger, better things to come my way in 2017. Here’s wishing all you readers a very Happy New Year, guys!
I know fans are curious about my personal life too, but I refrain from talking about it because I don’t enjoy that aspect MOUNI ROY, ACTOR
