British singer-songwriter James Arthur (right) says growing up with no moneym shaped his work ethic. “BeingB in bands and plugging awayaw with not many opportunitiesop and no money forfo many years taught me aboutab work ethic. It made me appreciateap what I had now,” he told hollywoodlife.com.

The 28-year-old says realityre show, X Factor, providedpr him with a platform that has launched him and given him some longevity, but he felt lost when he first found fame. “I didn’t have a clue what was going on. I was doing self-medicating and wasn’t in the right mind... But maybe I wouldn’t have had much to write about if I hadn’t pressed the self-destruct button! It’s relatable. Everybody’s gone through some kind of struggle in their life, and I’d like to be the type of voice who talks about it,” he says.
