Qureshi to organise special screening for Jaya Thadani
Actor Huma Qureshi (right) who is making her Hollywood debut with Viceroy’s House, took on the massive challenge of not only getting under the skin of her character but also closely studying the lady, on whom her character is loosely based.
Before shooting the film, Huma flew to London to meet the British era interpreter Jaya Thadani, as Huma will essay the character of the interpreter to India’s last British Viceroy, Lord Mountbatten and his wife.
Filmmaker Gurinder Chadha organised the meeting so that Huma could understand the character. Ever since this meeting, Huma and Jaya stayed in touch and it was only obvious that the actor wanted Jaya to be one of the first to watch the film. So Huma will soon be organising a special screening of Viceroy’s House for her. A source confirms, “Huma met Jaya in London to learn how she speaks and hear her stories and absorb how she lived her life during that time. After spending a day together, the two grew close. Huma is set to host a special screening of the film in London, as she is really excited to have Jaya’s feedback on her performance.” Viceroy’s House is an official selection at 67th Berlin International Film Festival.
