The half-bun hairstyle, lovingly nicknamed ‘hun’, took over Instagram some time ago. Loved for its fun, carefree yet glamorous vibe, the hairstyle popped up on global runways and also got a big thumbs up on the red carpet. Bollywood divas have brought the hun trend back this summer. Actors such as Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt, Anushka Sharma and Amrita Arora were recently spotted rocking the hun hairstyle. “The hun is a great hairstyle for those who do not want to go for stern, pulled back hairstyles this summer. Relaxed and easy, a hun goes well with all types of face cuts,” says hairstylist Rod Anker. A hun is also a stylish quick fix for a bad hair day. “It can easily turn around a bad hair day. It’s important to go for the right makeup with your hun. Pair it with a subtle base, soft eyes and refreshing, sheer lip shades for a summerperfect look,” says hair and beauty expert Abhijit Chanda. Stylist Vikram Seth says that the I-couldn’t-careless style teams well with both Indian and western wear. “It looks equally cool with your T-shirt and jeans, pantsuit and churidaaarkurti,” says Seth. However, he suggests leaving sari out when you tie your hair in a hun. “Don’t make the faux pas of sporting a hun with a sari because the two are not meant for each other,” says Seth.
