KIDMAN RETURNS TO SUPERHERO GENRE
Australian actor Nicole Kidman (left) could not say no to the offer of playing the mermaid warrior Queen Atlanna in the film Aquaman. “The reason why I love [Aquaman] is that [the director] James Wan (left) is an Australian, and... he’s a really good friend of mine. As soon as he said I could wear mother-of-pearl and be a mermaid warrior, I said I’m done. Because, you’ve got to have some fun,” Kidman says.
Aquaman is a superhero — he is one of the founders of the Justice League, and later becomes the king of the legendary underwater kingdom of Atlantis — and this film marks Kidman’s return to the superhero genre. She had previously done the film Batman Forever (1995), playing the female lead. The shooting for Aquaman begins in May.
