MY AWARD IS WON WITH IMANDARI
This year belongs to actor Akshay Kumar. While his movies are scorching the box office, the actor has just won the National Award for Best Actor for the film Rustom, loosely based on the Nanavati murder case.
Taking out time from his busy shooting schedule, he tells us, “It’s great news. The National Film Awards are the most prestigious awards in the country. It’s a moment of pride for sure.” The actor has the Midas touch, delivering three, sometimes five, hits in a year. His latest hit is Jolly LLB 2.
However, Akshay wears his success lightly. All he’d say about his stardom is that he likes to “be honest with his work and would give his best to people who trust him” with their money and love. “Itna keh sakta hoon mai ki ye award bhi maine imandari se jita hai. Maine aaj tak cheating nahi ki. Neither have I ever made a call to anyone to win an award, nor have I given money or done favours for it,” says the actor.
In the past, he has shared that he often gets offers from award show organisers, who tell him,“If you perform at the show, we can give you half the money and an award as well”. But, “I tell them”, says Akshay, “that they can give me the complete payment and keep their awards. The love and support I get from my fans is more important.”
