VARUN GOES OFF TWITTER TO FOCUS ON ACTING
He started off with a bang with Student of The Year. Ever since, Varun Dhawan has intelligently mixed his film choices and delivered boxoffice hits, resulting in him becoming one of the most bankable young actors in Bollywood. As he completes five years in the industry, Varun is focussing on reaching the optimal level he’s capable of as a performer, getting at least two new movies out every year.
“People around me keep telling me [that I’m doing very well], but I don’t think I have hit my full potential as yet,” says Varun. “Last year, I felt that besides Dishoom, maybe I should’ve had another release. I should have an average of at least two films every year.”
So intent he is on raising his performance to the next level that Varun has gone off Twitter, concentrating on his “difficult film (Judwaa 2)”. He clarifies that it’s a brief break. “Social media was a bit of a distraction. I will come back to it, though,” says the actor.
Varun being off social media doesn’t mean that social media are off Varun. There are plenty of headlines around his — maybe — girlfriend, Natasha Dalal, who’s also a former school classmate of the actor. Varun dodges a clear denial or confirmation, only saying, “This is just all very childish. It’s fine and it doesn’t bother me.”
Girlfriend rumours lead to the question of whether marriage is on his mind, since Varun is also close to 30. He says that it hasn’t yet crossed his mind, but he is, however, setting up his own house. “That’s the prime focus right now in terms of what I want to achieve,” says the actor. “Once that’s done, then I will think about everything else.”
The idea of an eligible bachelor and a ladies’ man creating a home sounds delicious. Varun laughs at the description of himself being a ladies’ man, and says, “I don’t think that’s true. Maybe, initially in my career, I’d hear these things, but not now. In the past two-three years, there has been a full image change.”
