Anyone else in my position would have committed suicide: Shilpa Shinde
Here’s what Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai fame actor Shilpa Shinde has to say to anyone who doubts her intentions for filing an FIR against the show’s producer Sanjay Kohli, accusing him of sexual harassment. “Jitne muh utni baatein! People think I’m doing all this for money or something else. Everyone has different experiences. I had a lot of things going on and I am dealing with it in my own way. It is not easy to talk about such things... I’ve been through a lot. Had anyone else been in my position, the person would’ve committed suicide,” says Shinde.
Speaking to HT, actor Kavita Kaushik (inset) had slammed Shilpa for raising the issue only last month, almost a year after Shilpa claims it happened. “I want to tell her [Kavita], who said I’m setting a bad example for other girls who go through this, that she’s right. I shouldn’t have. If you wait, you’re blamed for waiting.” She adds that last year when she had quit the popular show, she had accused the Kohlis (Sanjay and his wife Benaifer) of mental harassment. She’s still fighting for her unpaid dues amounting to `32 lakhs.
Shilpa argues that she was “banned unofficially” by the industry members, and that the Kohlis have filed a case against her for losses worth `12.5crore. “I had a bitter experience. They are flourishing while I’m the one suffering,” adds Shilpa, who resorted to stage shows after quitting the show.
