Nothing brings delight to a literary lover’s life like a an event dedicated to Urdu poetry does.

Held on Friday evening in Delhi, Mushaira Jashn-eBahar 2017 saw an attendance of over a thousand people as poets from over 15 countries regaled the audience with their shayari. These included Basir Kazmi from the United Kingdom, Javed Danish from Canada, and Abdullah Abdullah from the United States. Of these, So Yamane, a poet from Japan, caught everyone’s attention as he recited his verses in flawless Urdu.

It was against the backdrop of Faiz Ahmed Faiz’s shayari, written in late artist MF Hussain’s calligraphy, that the couplets set the mood for the evening. Politicians Farooq Abdullah, Shatrughan Sinha, and Najma Heptulla, lyricist Javed Akhtar were seen at the event.
