It’s no secret that Sanjay Dutt has seen ups and downs in life. The actor considers the phase in which he used drugs as his toughest days. In fact, Sanjay found his addiction more difficult to deal with than his time in jail for illegal possession of a weapon.

“Sanjay feels that the chapter of his life when he indulged in drugs was way more difficult compared to the days he spent in jail,” says a source. “During the time spent in Yerwada Jail in Pune, the actor learnt a lot and turned more creative. He wrote a book of poems... But it was not easy for Sanjay to get over that [narcotics] phase and put it in the past.”

Apparently, the Lage Raho Munna Bhai (2006) actor is now keen to spread awareness about narcotics. He wants to enlighten the youth about their harmful effects — how drugs and alcohol are not a solution to any problem in life. Sanjay actively wants to endorse the cause and is also figuring out ways to reach out to people who have become victims of addiction, says the source.

The actor himself couldn’t be reached for a comment.
