Spacey to host Tony Awards
American filmmakeractor Kevin Spacey (right) will host the 71st Annual Tony Awards, which honour plays and musicals presented on Broadway, each year.
“Honoured to host the #TonyAwards2017... Fingers crossed all the envelopes are in order,” Spacey tweeted, hinting at the award mix-up at the Oscars, earlier this year.
The nominations for the Tony Awards will be announced on May 2, and the event will take place in Los Angeles on June 11. “I was their second choice for Usual Suspects, fourth choice for American Beauty and 15th choice to host this year’s Tony Awards. My career is definitely going in the right direction,” Spacey joked in a press release.
The 57-year-old won his Tony in 1991, as a featured actor in Lost in Yonkers. He has appeared in six Broadway productions, including the 2007 revival of A Moon for the Misbegotten.
