ALL THE STYLE AND DRAMA AT MET GALA 2017
While some stayed true to the theme, others took on the fundraising ball in their own unique way
This year, Metropolitan Museum of Art’s retrospective exhibit celebrates iconic Japanese designer Rei Kawakubo. The fundraising gala, held to pay an ode to her work and design aesthetics in New York City, was a dramatic affair. And, when it came to putting on a show, the celebs did not disappoint us. Though some played it safe and marched to their own style tune, others raised the stakes with trailing trains, daring sheer and nude-hued, second-skin numbers.
Not only the clothes, some stylish pairs also made for news. While singers Selena Gomez and Abel Tesfaye (The Weeknd) made for a cute couple, many brought the designers along, whom they wore, as dates.
Like many, Zendaya went the floral way. She opted for this full-skirted Dolce & Gabbana
Nicki Minaj slayed it in her H&M dress, complete with a floor-sweeping train. Don’t miss that statement cinching belt with Rei Kawakubo’s face on it
Gigi Hadid went for all nude at the gala. Wearing a Tommy Hilfiger number, her fierce beauty look added to the Kawakubo vibe
Entrepreneur Julie Macklowe Instagrammed her picture and wrote: “Flying to the MET.” We love her Japanese- influenced look and all the quirk
Reality TV star Kylie Jenner went for a rose-gold beaded gown with 3D floral embellishments by Versace
In their red carpet debut as a couple, Selena Gomez and The Weeknd made for a cute picture. Selena wore Coach at the event
Not as daring as her past looks, Madonna picked a Moschino camouflage print dress for the gala
