She is one of the most photogenic stars of Bollywood. That’s why Katrina Kaif ’s latest photo shoot with the celebrity fashion photographer Mario Testino is making waves. Katrina is the first Indian and globally the 135th model for Testino’s famous ‘towel’ photo series, which had started with supermodel Kate Moss.

“[The shoot] was really nice,” Katrina tells us. “Ever since I started out as a model, I really admired Mario’s work. He really does have a certain eye and a certain way that he shoots women,” she says, adding that she has “been seeing his work for years”.

“I just think it’s very unique and after a certain point, photography at that level can start to have a similar feel, but I think you can always tell an image that he has clicked. There is some sort of an edge to it,” says Katrina, who bonded with Testino in a flash when they met the first time.

“He just instantly made himself like I was talking to my best friend. He was really warm,” says the actor. That’s important, because “for a photo shoot, you need to have a good time.” Katrina enjoys photo shoots, “as long as there’s a specific intention”. She says, “It can’t just be random or aimless. I need to know what kind of image we are trying to create.”
