Suniel Shetty wants to play his age in films

Hindustan Times (Patna) - Live - - Entertainment -

At a time when actors are essaying muchyounger characters onscreen, 55-year-old Suniel Shetty (below) has no qualms in taking up roles that suit his age.

“I want to play my age, I want to play a father, or an officer. I don’t want to run around trees... I don’t want to sing and dance. I believe every age has its own beauty and [you have to have] the confidence to carry yourself. I’m confident about my craft of acting,” says the actor, who has two children, (actor) Athiya and Aahan, with wife Mana Shetty.

Suniel has been in the film industry for close to 25 years, and never tried to hide his age or family life as a married man. “I was married before I came in the film industry, and I never sold a dream that I’m single... I have accepted that I’m a father to 24-year-olds,” he says.

The actor was on a selfimposed sabbatical from films for three years, but now he’s back with a new television show. What about films? Suniel says he will say no to projects on the big screen if nothing excites him.

“I have rejected a lot of films as I was not in the mental space to work. There was something in me that I kept saying no to work,” he recalls.
