Arecent report states that the censor board has asked the makers of the film Hindi Medium to issue a disclaimer stating it is a work of fiction. Actor Irrfan Khan (above) thinks that the decision is debatable.

“The film is inspired by a real life incident .... It should say inspired by or based on real life incidents. One should debate upon it,” said Irrfan.

Apart from Irrfan, the film stars Pakistani actor Saba Qamar in the lead. Directed by Saket Chaudhary, the movie is about how education that is supposed to be a tool of enlightenment has become a tool to create inequality. Talking about the film, Irrfan said, “I was looking to do a comedy and wanted to do a film that parents and children can watch together.”

It has been described as a light-hearted romantic film about a young couple from Chandni Chowk in Delhi who aspire to move into society’s upper crust. Earlier, the director had denied allegations that the film was copied from the 2014 Bengali family drama film Ramdhanu, which is based on similar lines. “We have researched our script over a year and it is based on original material,” said Chaudhary.
