DEEPIKA KILLS IT AT CANNES

In her sec­ond out­ing at the Cannes Film Fes­ti­val (the first was in 2010), ac­tor Deepika Padukone (left) went for a plum-hued dress by the la­bel March­esa and she de­cided to ro­mance risqué in sheer tulle.

The la­bel has, in the past, been favoured by many In­dian celebs. Its co-founder, Ge­orgina Chap­man, on a visit to Mum­bai in April, met some Bollywood stars.

Celebrity stylist El­iz­a­beth Saltz­man is be­hind Deepika’s look — they set­tled on this dress when Deepika was at the Met Gala, in New York, this month.

While world me­dia were mostly mum on Deepika, back home, she cre­ated a buzz among de­sign­ers.

“Love her look, and she looks re­laxed in the dress, which is most im­por­tant,” says Ritu Beri. And Rina Dhaka feels, “The sheer, fluid style is so ‘now.’” She adds that a softer blush tone would have worked even bet­ter.

“She is a rage! Put her in a rag and she’d still look like a mil­lion bucks. But [her] makeup was un­der­whelm­ing,” says Anand Bhushan. For Suneet Varma, the colour wasn’t a win­ner but “the sheer and leg show is sexy.”
