The Cannes Film Festival is underway at the picturesque French Riviera, and along with the stunning location, the glorious gowns, coupled with paparazzi-perfect styling makes the annual celebration of cinema and style, an unmissable gala.

While the biggest names in Hollywood make their presence felt, Bollywood also makes its mark, every year. At the 70th edition of the festival, actor Deepika Padukone has managed to give us two appearances — both very different from each other. While sheer play and solid colours were big on her agenda, we also loved her beauty looks that gave us major inspiration. One of the biggest trends among the stars included a mash-up of dramatic cathedral train and floor-length gowns that trailed delicately behind. Here, we pick some stand-out looks served on the first two days of the fest.

TRAILING TRAINS Actor Deepika Padukone made a case for gowns that played with length. While her Marchesa look (left) had a bit of tulle trailing behind her, the Brandon Maxwell emerald number also had a flowy train that added to her Grecian grace. Like one more than another?

When it came to the beauty look, classic seemed to be the code. Unlike Deepika who dared to play with green, others stuck to the classic combination of blackstreaked eyelids and statement red lips. Here’s (top to bottom) Elle Fanning, Fan Bingbing and Adriana Lima in the look
