Would love to do biopic on PT Usha: Pooja
Actor Pooja Batra (above), says it’s important to make movies on women athletes, as it would encourage aspiring athletes. The actor, who has been a national level athlete, wants to act in a biopic on former Indian athlete and Olympian PT Usha (below).
“Sports is necessary for mental and physical development of a person. I have been an athlete. I represented my school in 200 and 400 meter race at national level. I think, it’s essential to encourage aspiring athletes in our country by making films on female athletes and I would love to do a biopic on PT Usha,” she says, adding, “I have kind of played the role of Kalpana Chawla in a Hollywood film, One Under the Sun, in which, I play the role of an astronaut.”
For now, Pooja is excited about her next film alongside actor Parvin Dabas. Talking about the film, she says, “I play a role of a criminal psychologist, who tries to ascertain, if the character of Parvin is mentally stable and speaking the truth. In India, people relate mental therapy with mental illness. Therapy helps people to rectify their errors, which they have been doing since childhood. I have taken such therapies. So, I wanted to play such a character to analyse people.”
