Shia LaBeouf slapped with a $5 million lawsuit
Hollywood actor Shia LaBeouf (left), is in legal trouble. According to the court documents obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, last month, LaBeouf, 30, who was accompanied by his wife Mia Goth, got into a loud verbal altercation at a Los Angeles Deli, after a bartender refused to serve LaBeouf and Goth a drink, allegedly because they were already too intoxicated.
Now, a month later, the bartender, David Bernstein, has filed documents at the Los Angeles Superior Court suing for defamation, slander, and assault; seeking damages of 5 million USD (`32,31,37,500). However, LaBeouf ’s attorney, Brian Wolf, claims the lawsuit to be frivolous, saying, “The recent lawsuit filed against Shia is baseless. Statements attributed to Shia ... do not remotely constitute ‘defamation’. The case is little more than an effort to harass our client. We will vigorously defend and seek dismissal of this frivolous action.”
In a video of the altercation obtained by TMZ, LaBeouf is heard yelling “f***ing racist b**ch” at Bernstein. This lawsuit follows LaBeouf ’s January arrest in New York City, where he was charged with misdemeanor assault and a harassment violation, for allegedly attacking a 25-yearold man at a protest against President Donald Trump. The video of the incident was put online.
