It’s World Environment Day today, and talks of doing our bit to preserve the earth have resurfaced. And though just one day in the year is earmarked for green issues, there are some celebrities, who passionately work for the cause for the other 364 days too.

On-screen they are actors and off-screen they are the eco-warriors. And since they are celebrities, their voice is often heard by millions, who in turn do their bit to save the earth. “People’s opinions are built on what the celebs say,” says Sou parno Banerjee from the NGO Centre for Science and Environment, which came into prominence when Hollywood actor Leonardo Di Caprio contacted them to shoot a documentary. “The kind of work he did here got a lot of mileage. It does bring things into consciousness,” adds Banerjee.

Here are some of the names from Hollywood and Bollywood’s green brigade, who have been toiling for the sake of the environment.
