Actor Kiara Advani (right) says nepotism exists everywhere, even in Bollywood, but that doesn’t close the doors for outsiders in the film industry.

Kiara, the granddaughter of late actor Saeed Jaffrey’s brother Hameed Jaffery, says, “It’s easier to get something through connections. But there are so many actors who have made it on their own... [Like how] Priyanka Chopra has gone and achieved what no filmy kid has done. So, everybody’s journey is their own. Your first film becomes easy when you’re a star kid, but otherwise your success is completely dependent on the audience acceptance of you.”

Kiara — who made her debut in 2014 with Akshay Kumar’s production Fugly — adds that “there is partiality” but “a lot of people have risen above that, and outsiders have managed to make a mark”.
