Pre­ity’s safety ser­vice to be launched in Pune

Ac­tor Pre­ity Zinta re­cently launched a so­cial ser­vice cam­paign, Kavach Safety, aim­ing to­wards the safety of women. Now, she’s ty­ing up with var­i­ous col­leges and uni­ver­si­ties in Pune to spread aware­ness about her ini­tia­tive. The emer­gency re­sponse ser­vice, backed by a team com­pris­ing for­mer army and spe­cial force pro­fes­sion­als, is de­signed to help women in un­safe sit­u­a­tions. Pre­ity, who is cur­rently in Pune, a city with a large stu­dent pop­u­la­tion, says that the “pilot project” will be set in the city, and the team then aims to tar­get other cities. Delhi is next on their list.

“We are speak­ing to uni­ver­si­ties, col­leges and cor­po­rate firms, so we can sign up our first set of sub­scribers. We’re do­ing tie-ups by hold­ing events, safety con­fer­ences and other in­ter­ac­tive ses­sions,” says Pre­ity.

“She will be of­fi­cially launch­ing the ser­vice in late Au­gust in Pune. For now, they are ty­ing up with uni­ver­si­ties, meet­ing po­lice com­mis­sioner and set­ting oper­a­tions,” adds a source.
