Joshi (above), who is playing the role of mythological character Devaki in a show, had to lose almost nine kilos. According to sources, the makers of the show asked her to shed a few pounds because “the costumes for the show are slightly revealing owing to the character and story line.”

About her weight loss, Gulki says, “It’s always the case with mythological shows — they make one lose weight and stay fit. The character that I am playing in the show required me to look less plump, so I had to hit the gym to get in shape before I began shooting.” According to a source, to make her character look authentic on-screen, “Gulki wears lot of dhotis and bustiers with dupattas, which show her stomach and arms, and hence looking a little toned was the only way [for her]”.
