Downey Jr. (right) has become synonymous with the popular superhero Iron Man, after portraying the character in 10 movies, produced by Marvel. However, the actor is wondering if it’s time to hang up his red-andgold armour and leave the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“It’s this cyclical thing. I could have said when the first Avengers came out ‘It’s never going to get any better than that. Everybody stop.’ But to me, it’s always about people and opportunities, like the Russos [Avengers directors Anthony Russo and Joe Russo], who I adore,” says Downey Jr.

He says that everyone has appreciated his performance and told him that the character suits him well. But, he does not want to blow it all away and drop the ball by playing the superhero again.“I just want to hang up my jersey before it’s embarrassing,” he adds.

The 52-year-old made his debut as the hero in Iron Man (2008) and he will reprise his role in the movie Avengers: Infinity War.
