Saif Ali Khan’s cool look in a thrilling dark comedy
After Go Goa Gone (2013), which saw him sport blonde hair and mouth a fake accent, actor Saif Ali Khan has got a completely new look for Kaalakaandi. The teaser of the film is being launched today.
The film also marks the directorial debut of Akshat Verma, the writer of Delhi Belly (2011). A source says, “Kaalakaandi is a thrilling dark comedy that features six characters from different walks of life. The film is a raucous tale about life, death and karma, which unfolds one monsoon night in Mumbai.”
Saif had earlier said in a statement: “Kaalakaandi is a film I’m so happy to be a part of. It is a cross-section of Mumbai with goons, doomed bankers, and idealistic lovers all mixed together in this karmic tale about love, crime and living a lifetime in one night. Akshat has written and directed this unique movie and he’s probably the only voice who tells it exactly like it actually is.”
Produced by Cinestaan Film Company and Ashi Dua Sara of Flying Unicorn, the film stars Saif Ali Khan along with an ensemble cast of Deepak Dobriyal, Vijay Raaz, Kunal Roy Kapur, Sobhita Dhulipala, Akshay Oberoi, Isha Talwar, Shenaz Treasury, Shivam Patil and Amyra Dastur. Neil Bhoopalam makes a special appearance in the film, which is set to release on September 8.
