Ryan Gosling, Claire Foy in Neil Armstrong biopic
Actors Ryan Gosling (right) and Claire Foy (left) are set to star in The First Man — the Neil Armstrong (inset) biopic directed by filmmaker Damien Chazelle. Gosling will portray Neil —the first man to land on the moon, while Foy will play the role of his wife.
Though the film will centre around Armstrong’s family, and his struggles as a person, it will also depict the US, during the ’60s and NASA’s race with the Soviets to be the first nation to gain extraterrestrial ground.
Inspired by James Hansen’s biography, First Man: The life of Neil A. Armstrong, the film began its shooting in early 2017 according to Variety Magazine.
In one interview, Chazelle is quoted as saying “… the first time I met Ryan [Gosling], it was to talk to him about First Man and not La La Land. It meant that, as soon as La La was done, I could go back into that.”
