Actor Anushka Sharma has been seen in various on-screen avatars, but it is for the first time that she will be portraying the role of a Gujarati girl in filmmaker Imtiaz Ali’s, Jab Harry Met Sejal. Her character in the film is that of an independent, outspoken and free-spirited girl who is on a trip to Europe. The newly-launched trailer of the film, in which Anushka is seen alongside actor Shah Rukh Khan, has the audience rooting for Anushka as Sejal.

However, getting the impeccable Gujarati accent wasn’t easy, admits Anushka. In order to get into the skin of Sejal’s character, the actor observed and imbibed the mannerisms and accent from her makeup artist, who is a Gujarati. And that’s not all, she also underwent coaching from a diction trainer.

Speaking about the process of getting into the skin of Sejal’s character, Anushka says, “I learnt the Gujarati diction from Dimple, my coach. We used to write down the words in the way it is pronounced and once you are familiar with those words, it’s easier to talk in that accent and style.”

Directed by Imtiaz Ali, Jab Harry Met Sejal stars Shah Rukh Khan as Harry, a tourist guide in Europe and Anushka Sharma plays Sejal, a lawyer on a trip to Europe. The movie is scheduled to release on August 4.
