Varun sets up October tryst with Delhi
Come October, and Varun Dhawan will head to Delhi to shoot for his next film, to be directed by Shoojit Sircar. We’ve exclusively learned that the film has been titled October, and will be Shoojit’s unusual take on a love story.
“I’m sure it’s going to be a very pleasurable journey between Varun and me. For this film, I will again be collaborating with Juhi (Chaturvedi, writer), who wrote Piku, Vicky Donor, and also worked with me in writing dialogues for Madras Café,” says Shoojit. Right before Piku, he adds, the team started working on this particular idea, which came from a “small newspaper clipping”.
Varun says that Shoojit is a director he always wanted to work with. “I’m definitely happy and excited. The amazing thing about him is that he’s very sure about his vision. I’ve met him just now, so I’m trying to get into that world, understand it and the thinking, besides the way the film is going to breathe and feel,” says the actor.
“One thing that [Shoojit] has asked me and that I will do in October is that I will be going off social media completely. It’s not a big deal. But when we talk of the youth, social media is a big component,” says Varun. The makers apparently plan to release the film in around March-April 2018. “I’ll be shooting again in my city, Delhi, but we haven’t zeroed in on the exact release date,” says Shoojit.
On the germ of the idea for October, Shoojit says, “The idea came from a small newspaper clipping. People will know what I’m talking about when they watch the film. It’ll again be a very unconventional kind of a story. There are many stories that are slice-of-life and are about romance and love. This is my way of looking at romance and love. It’s my take on love.”
