My heart goes out to the families that lost their near and dear ones. It’s a proud day, thanks to their sacrifices. But somehow, I feel the country is not even aware of Kargil Vijay Diwas. This day should be celebrated with much more awareness, especially among the youth, to understand that we’re living happily because our forces are deployed at the borders. Two years after Kargil, there was a cold war between India and Pakistan and my dad (Retd. Colonel Kulvinder Singh) was posted in Rajasthan, near the border. The situation was such that everyone was expecting another Kargil.
