Hathaway to replace Schumer?
Actor Anne Hathaway (above) is in negotiations to replace actor-comedian Amy Schumer (inset) in the Barbie movie. Representatives for the production house said the casting is premature, as scheduling arrangements have not been worked out, reported Variety.
Australian director Alethea Jones is in talks to helm the comedy. The big screen adaptation of Mattel’s iconic toy line was originally expected to start production on June 23, but Schumer’s busy calendar delayed it. She later left the project due to scheduling conflicts. The production house intends to stick to its June 29, 2018 release date, though it’s unclear clear when production would start.
The Barbie movie is said to be in the vein of Splash, Big and Enchanted. In it, the main character gets kicked out of Barbieland for not being perfect enough and lands in a real-world adventure.
