Ac­tor Ab­hishek Bachchan says that bas­ket­ball is his first love; it’s a sport that he has played through­out his life

Ac­tor Ab­hishek Bachchan (above) be­lieves that sport should be an im­por­tant part of ev­ery­one’s life, as it is good for their over­all well­be­ing. He feels that work­ing closely with sport fran­chises has in­spired him to strive for bet­ter things in life. The ac­tor is the co-owner of a foot­ball and kabaddi team.

“My in­volve­ment in sport al­lows me to in­ter­act with many ath­letes. That mo­ti­vates me to do greater things in life,” said Ab­hishek. “Sports must be a big­ger part of every in­di­vid­ual as it brings out your in­ner self which def­i­nitely helps you grow in what­ever you do,” added the ac­tor.

While cricket re­mains the most pop­u­lar game in In­dia, Ab­hishek be­lieves in giv­ing other sport­ing dis­ci­plines their due. Talk­ing about a sport like kabaddi, the ac­tor said, “Ac­cord­ing to me, it has only achieved part of its to­tal po­ten­tial, there is still a lot of scope that this beau­ti­ful game has and it will surely reach there very soon.”

So what’s his favourite sport? Ab­hishek says that bas­ket­ball re­mains his first love. “I have al­ways been a fan [of bas­ket­ball] to start with. It’s my first love, and is a sport I have al­ways played through my life,” said the 41-year-old, adding that he has been an NBA (Na­tional Bas­ketabll As­so­ci­a­tion) fan since 1982 when his fa­ther, Amitabh Bachchan, took him to a game in Los An­ge­les, US.
