Indian couture is usually dedicated to what the bride wants, but, the penultimate day of India Couture Week 2017, catered to the entire wedding party, and to the many events that precede the D-day.

Organised by Fashion Design Council of India with associate partner Hindustan Times, day six saw two distinct style sensibilities. The evening started with designer Anita Dongre’s show where models walked to the soulful voice of sufi singer Deveshi Sahgal. Not only lehengas, but even tea-length dresses saw gottapatti work, embroideries done by craftswomen of SEWA and woven textiles from Benaras. Her showstoppers were the bride, her bridesmaids and flower girls — ushering in the concept of couture for the entire bridal party.

Designer Gaurav Gupta ended the day with signature fantastical couture. “The designs are an amalgamation of Indian craftsmanship and European designs, inspired by nature, forest and a fantasy space, almost like a parallel world on the moon.” he said. Actor Aditi Rao Hydari walked as Gupta’s muse.
