Web series has a global reach; it gives more freedom: Vivek
Vivek Oberoi says that with this medium, one can create different kinds of content without worrying about restrictions
Vivek Oberoi (right), who recently acted in a web series, is quite happy with his decision of trying a digital medium. He feels that it was only wise to try out a new medium that is gradually gaining popularity.
“No matter how big a Hindi film turns out to be, it can only reach a limited number of territories. This [web content] reaches 200 territories, globally. So, someone sitting in a different part of the world will [also] get to watch my work and say, ‘I like this guy’,” says Vivek, who was last seen in the film Bank Chor.
The 40-year-old actor, who has been part of films such as Saathiya (2002), Omkara (2006) and Shootout at Lokhandwala (2007), feels that it is essential for an actor to take his work to as many people as he can and expand the viewership by all possible means.
“It’s also important for an actor to attempt something different, as it helps them grow,” says Vivek, adding that the best thing about the web is that one is able to create different kind of content without worrying about what’s allowed and what’s not, and fretting about the audience’s expectations. “It gives you an incredible amount of freedom,” he adds.
