Shashaa Tirupati idolises AR Rahman for more reasons than one. Having collaborated with Rahman in both South Indian and Hindi films, she feels a never ending urge to work with him again and again as she gets to learn something new every single time.

“I admire Rahman sir both for his art and the kind of individual he is. His moral values and outlook towards the world inspire me. He is a very peace loving person. You kind of imbibe his qualities when you work with him. He has a huge influence in my life,” says Shashaa, who has worked with him in films such as Kochadaiiyaan (2014), Lingaa (2014), , Mohenjo Daro (2016) and Mom.

Shashaa considers The Mozart of Madras one of her mentors. “He doesn’t confine himself but is ready to experiment, and he is always breaking norms. He is a rebel. The best part of working with him is that he is respectful to the artists he is working with. He gives breathing space to everyone and is open to their ideas. He has the capability of extracting the best out of everyone,” she adds.

Talking about what is next on the cards with Rahman, Shashaa shares that they are in talks for a project but she refused to divulge any details.
