SC tells govt to notify new drug policy in two weeks
NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Tuesday gave two weeks' time to the government to notify its policy on the pricing of 348 essential drugs. Fixing December 24 to hear the matter further, the court expressed anguish at the slow pace at which the government was moving to introduce the policy. A bench headed by Justice GS Singhvi told the government counsel: "It should be the primary concern of the state to see that people get cheap drugs. Why is it that the court has to intervene in such matters?"
