Hindustan Times (Patna) - - FRONT PAGE -

AHMEDABAD: Gujarat Congress vice-president and Dalit leader Girish Parmar on Wednesday joined the BJP, which promptly fielded him from the Danilimda reserved SC seat in Ahmedabad. Parmar left Congress because he was angry over the party fielding sitting MLA Shailesh Parmar from the seat.

Parmar was originally a BJP leader who joined Shankersinh Vaghela when he split the BJP in the mid-1990s and went on to form the government. Parmar was a cabinet minister in that government. He remained in Vaghela’s bandwagon when the latter joined Congress in 1998.
