Abducted villager lynched at Maoist jan adalat
GAYA: An abducted Gaya villager was beaten to death after a Maoist jan adalat (kangaroo court) ordered its cadres to thrash him late on Friday night.
The victim, Janki Yadav, and Sharvan Das were earlier abducted from Nandai and Aurwa Tand villages respectively under Dumari police station on Thursday night and taken to the dense Pananwan forest of Bhokha panchayat.
Village sources said Yadav was produced before a hurriedly organised jan adalat in the forest. Yadav died while the “punishment” was being executed, the sources added.
Yadav’s family members were then called to Pananwan where they were handed over the body at around 9.30 pm. Das, however, managed to escape from the clutches of Maoists. The police are looking for him.
