PETA opposes move to lift ban on Jallikattu

NEW DELHI: Animal rights body PETA on Wednesday held a ‘bloodless Jallikattu’ here to oppose the Centre’s reported intention to lift the ban on the traditiona­l bull race, besides bullfights of a similar kind. PETA volunteers staged the demonstrat­ion with two giant inflatable bull figures at Jantar Mantar, and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to retain the prohibitio­n on the event.
