DDCA COMES UNDER FIRE

-

NEW DELHI: The controversy-ridden Delhi cricket association (DDCA) was put on notice by observer ,Justice (retd) Mukul Mudgal, and the Registrar of Companies on Tuesday. The latter could render the executive committee governing the body illegal and bring in administrators in its place.

Justice Mudgal, appointed observer for matches by Delhi High Court, wrote a letter warning officials refusing to sign cheques to pay the coaching staff and meet the team’s expenses etc. Two of the five authorised officials must sign. While treasurer Ravinder Manchanda signed, the others have refused, raising objections to the work being done under Mudgal. They also oppose the Lodha panel recommendations.

Mudgal has directed the auditor to release the money, pointing out that those who haver refused to sign despite his direction will be flouting court orders and will also be held liable for affecting the domestic season of Delhi cricket.

The Registrar of Companies rejected DDCA’s request to put off elections till December 15. The body hasn’t held polls for three years and has failed to submit the balance sheet. With a request for extension rejected, the directors can become ‘illegal squatters’ liable for punishment.
