Latehar and Palamu back in red zone
LATEHAR: Latehar and Palamu districts entered the red zone again within 24 hours of becoming free of active cases with five new Covid-19 cases detected in Latehar and eight in Palamu till Friday.
Latehar, with a total number of 58 cases now, had discharged the last patient from Covid care facility on Wednesday, while Palamu, with the same tally, had achieved the feat on Thursday.
In Latehar, three persons tested positive on Thursday night and two more on Friday. Out of five new cases, three were from security forces- an assistant sub inspector and two CRPF jawans.
Latehar civil surgeon (CS) Dr Santosh Kumar Srivastava said, “All five had travel history of other places. They were all staying at government quarantine centres and have now been shifted to Covid care facility at Latehar district headquarters.”
“We are conducting contact tracing of positive patients,” the CS informed.
Meanwhile, the district administration carried out an extensive sanitization drive in the local court, collectorate and police premises as a precautionary measure.
In Palamu, the latest positive cases were found to asymptomatic. Palamu CS Dr John F Kennedy said, “They are in the age group of 17-47 years and do not have any symptoms. They all belong to Hariharganj. The patients and their family members have all been shifted to Covid care at Palamu Medical College and Hospital in Daltonganj.”
