2 MORE FARMERS END LIVES
Two farmers allegedly ended their lives in Madhya Pradesh within the last 24 hours, taking the total number of agriculturerelated suicides in the state to 15 since June 6 violent protests in Mandsaur.
An elderly farmer reportedly hanged self on Monday in Sehore, the home district of chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, taking the suicide death toll to 14 since the June 6 violent protests across Madhya Pradesh.
Banshi Lal had taken loan of ₹3 lakh from a bank and ₹5 lakh from local money lenders in Sehore, 43 kms from state capital Bhopal, said local sources.
Meena’s son Manoj said his father owned nine acre land and was unable to repay a loan of ₹11 lakh.
In Vidisha , farmer Jeevan Singh Meena committed suicide by hanging himself from the branch of a mango tree on Sunday night According to his family members, he was in depression due to financial problems. Tehsildar Santosh Bitoliya, however , told local media it was not clear whether Meena had committed suicide due to some loan or family dispute.
