Andy Murray has lashed out at John McEnroe over his claims that the world number one should be still seen as “a distant fourth” in comparison with the three other members of the Big Four. When asked about McEnroe’s comments on the eve of the grass-court tournament, Murray though admitted that Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic had achieved more over the course of their careers.

IM Tania Sachdev crashed through the defences of US champion Sabina Foisor to guide the Indian women team to a 2.5-1.5 victory in the second round of world women’s team chess championship. On what turned out to be a successful day after a draw with higher-ranked Georgia in the opener, the other three boards ended in a draw.

Australia players have threatened to boycott the India tour and the Ashes series if its cricket board does not meet their demand.
