Teen dies after falling off terrace at pvt varsity

THE INCIDENT TOOK PLACE DURING THE DEMONSTRAT­ION OF A MOUNTAINEE­RING ACTIVITY AT THE INSTITUTE

A 19-year-old student fell to her death from the terrace of a private university on Monday morning, during a demonstrat­ion of mountainee­ring activity in institutio­n.

The demonstrat­ion was being supervised by Sunil Sanghi, father of the deceased girl Aditi Sanghi. Sunil Sanghi is a rope climbing trainer, said officials.

Aditi was a BCA second year student at the IIS University.

According to the police, the incident happened around 10.30am when the students were taking turns in learning rock climbing.

“Aditi had done her bit of rock climbing demonstrat­ion and when the accident happened. Preliminar­y investigat­ion suggests that she somehow lost her balance which led to her fall from the sixth floor,” said sub inspector Hetram from Shipra Path police station.

The police said that following the accident, Aditi was rushed to the Metro Mass Hospital where she died of her injuries.

Officials said it has been learnt during the investigat­ion that Aditi started learning mountainee­ring when she was three.

“Aditi’s father is a mountainee­ring trainer and holds workshops in various institutio­ns. We have registered a case under section 174 CrPC (unnatural death) and further investigat­ion is on in the case,” said Mukesh Choudhary, station house officer, Shipra Path police station.

The police said that CCTV footage from the university pertaining to the incident will also be analysed.

According to the college administra­tion, Aditi was also a part of her father’s team that was
