Teen dies after falling off terrace at pvt varsity
THE INCIDENT TOOK PLACE DURING THE DEMONSTRATION OF A MOUNTAINEERING ACTIVITY AT THE INSTITUTE
A 19-year-old student fell to her death from the terrace of a private university on Monday morning, during a demonstration of mountaineering activity in institution.
The demonstration was being supervised by Sunil Sanghi, father of the deceased girl Aditi Sanghi. Sunil Sanghi is a rope climbing trainer, said officials.
Aditi was a BCA second year student at the IIS University.
According to the police, the incident happened around 10.30am when the students were taking turns in learning rock climbing.
“Aditi had done her bit of rock climbing demonstration and when the accident happened. Preliminary investigation suggests that she somehow lost her balance which led to her fall from the sixth floor,” said sub inspector Hetram from Shipra Path police station.
The police said that following the accident, Aditi was rushed to the Metro Mass Hospital where she died of her injuries.
Officials said it has been learnt during the investigation that Aditi started learning mountaineering when she was three.
“Aditi’s father is a mountaineering trainer and holds workshops in various institutions. We have registered a case under section 174 CrPC (unnatural death) and further investigation is on in the case,” said Mukesh Choudhary, station house officer, Shipra Path police station.
The police said that CCTV footage from the university pertaining to the incident will also be analysed.
