Five Tamil Nadu fish­er­men ar­rested by Lankan Navy

Five Tamil Nadu fish­er­men were ar­rested by the Sri Lankan Navy on Thurs­day when they were al­legedly fish­ing off Ne­dun­theevu in their ter­ri­to­rial wa­ters. The naval men also seized the boat used by them and took them to Man­nar naval camp in Sri Lanka, as­sis­tant di­rec­tor of fish­eries, Manikan­dan said. An­other group of fish­er­men, who were fish­ing near Katchatheevu were chased away at gun point by the is­land na­tion au­thor­i­ties fol­low­ing which over 50 boats re­turned to the shore with­out their catch, pres­i­dent of the Rameswaram Fish­er­men As­so­ci­a­tion, S Emiret said.
