Odisha woman says wrong leg was operated upon
BHUBANESWAR: In a case of alleged medical negligence, a Dalit woman in Odisha’s backward district of Keonjhar on Sunday complained that her wrong leg had been operated by the medical staff of a sub-divisional hospital where she went for treatment. Mitarani Jena is in her early 40s, a resident of Khabil village, who went for treating a wound on her left leg at the Anandpur sub-divisional hospital complained that the staff at the hospital operated her right leg instead of left after administering anesthesia. According to Mitarani’s family members, she had been suffering from intense pain on her left ankle following which she was taken for a medical check-up. After inspecting the patient’s condition, the doctor said an infected wound needed a surgery.
