A Poem And A Song

Hindustan Times ST (Mumbai) - Brunch - - BREAKFAST OF CHAMPIONS -

Bollywood lyricist Kausar Munir got so inspired by our cover story on Shikhar Dhawan and his love for Sufi music, that she penned a few lines in honour of the star cricketer. Arz kiya hai...

KABHI FALAK SE NIGAAH HATA KE DEKHO...

Dhhalaanon se phisalta hua, Oonchaaiyon se utarta hua. Nadiyon se nikalta hua, Sadiyon se guzarta hua.

Mitti ki goad mein nikharta hai,

Gali koochon mein umeed ki tarah bikharta hai. Kabhi sar se sone ka taj utaar kar,

Tasawwuf ka saafa baandha leta hai.

Kabhi falak se nigaah hata ke dekho… Ek shikhar, zameen pe bhi rehta hai.

SOMETIMES, LIFT YOUR EYE, FROM THE SKY

Sliding off slopes,

Gliding off heights.

Rambling through rivers,

Moving through centuries of time.

All aglow, son of the soil,

Leaving his fragrance at every corner. Putting aside his crown of glory, He wears the spirit of a silent seeker.

Sometimes, lift your eye, from the sky...

There’s a summit (shikhar), right here on earth.
