SIR RICHARD HADLEE

Hindustan Times ST (Mumbai) - Brunch - - BREAKFAST OF CHAMPIONS -

This week had a date with Sir Richard Hadlee, one of the greatest fast bowlers and all-rounders in cricketing history. But when we reached the five-star Mumbai restaurant, the 65-year-old was having a meltdown of sorts and was in a rather crabby mood. The climate of the subcontinent has always bothered the New Zealander and that day even the blasting AC was not helping much. We somehow managed to convince him for a quick chat. But as we started talking, this sulking man turned into an affable person opening up about his first rendezvous with an 18-year-old Sachin Tendulkar, love for Dennis Lillee, and why he thinks Imran Khan was a better all-rounder than Kapil Dev and him.
