Officials use grass-roots approach, head to villages
CBD BELAPUR: The newly-appointed Joint Managing Director of City and Industrial Development Corporation Ltd ( Cidco), V Radha, has got down to work immediately on taking charge.
Stating that the airport project is her priority, Radha has decided to meet the project affected people (PAPs) of Navi Mumbai in their villages, along with her officials to get firsthand information on the issues that have led to the delay in resolving their issues. The Radha said she wants to win the trust of the PAPs by being transparent.
Speaking informally on taking over the office, following her appointment last week, Radha said, “I believe in first studying the issues in detail, then acting on them fast. Of what I have seen so far, I feel that there is a need for better communication between the land, engineering and planning departments of Cidco for better coordination.”
She added, “Officials of the three departments too will jointly visit all the villages starting with Dronagiri. We will find out the lacunas and help resolve them. I hope to ensure that changes start taking shape in twothree months.”
On the delayed airport project for which land acquisition has been the biggest hurdle, Radha said, “It is a question of credibility. If senior officials give all the details to the PAPs, it will help. The viability of the project is also a consideration, its cost has escalated immensely. We will have to offer a lucrative package to the PAPs.”
