CBD BE­LA­PUR: The civic body’s health depart­ment has started an aware­ness drive to help cit­i­zens deal with mon­soon-re­lated ill­nesses.

The Navi Mum­bai Mu­nic­i­pal Cor­po­ra­tion (NMMC) is look­ing at cre­at­ing aware­ness through­out the city in dif­fer­ent nodes by clean­ing dif­fer­ent places, in­spect­ing ar­eas and pro­vid­ing guid­ance. The health depart­ment has been dis­tribut­ing var­i­ous pam­phlets re­lated to dis­eases such as malaria, dengue, swine flu, leptospirosis and oth­ers.

Rep­re­sen­ta­tives of the depart­ment will be sent on a door-todoor cam­paign for blood check­ups of cit­i­zens and to pro­vide them with a pow­der that will help them kill germs, flies and mos­qui­toes in their area. Mos­quito lar­vae, found mostly in drainage ar­eas will be de­stroyed by spraying medicines, of­fi­cials said.

“Our rep­re­sen­ta­tives per­son­ally visit houses and pro­vide guid­ance to peo­ple. We are also plan­ning to con­duct camps at var­i­ous places in the month of June. It will help peo­ple par­tic­i­pate and in­crease aware­ness on the is­sues,” said a med­i­cal of­fi­cer from NMMC’s health depart­ment.
