NMMC LAUNCHES NEW AWARENESS DRIVE ON HEALTH
CBD BELAPUR: The civic body’s health department has started an awareness drive to help citizens deal with monsoon-related illnesses.
The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) is looking at creating awareness throughout the city in different nodes by cleaning different places, inspecting areas and providing guidance. The health department has been distributing various pamphlets related to diseases such as malaria, dengue, swine flu, leptospirosis and others.
Representatives of the department will be sent on a door-todoor campaign for blood checkups of citizens and to provide them with a powder that will help them kill germs, flies and mosquitoes in their area. Mosquito larvae, found mostly in drainage areas will be destroyed by spraying medicines, officials said.
“Our representatives personally visit houses and provide guidance to people. We are also planning to conduct camps at various places in the month of June. It will help people participate and increase awareness on the issues,” said a medical officer from NMMC’s health department.
